WHERE WE ARE NOW…
CREB® Home Smarts is an extension of the Go Green project. Go Green focused on familiarizing REALTORS® with energy standards such as Energuide, and promoting green REALTOR® designations. CREB® HomeSmarts is taking this one step further. Now, your REALTOR® can use green features as part of your property search within the MLS® Listings – enabling you to see only those homes with energy efficient features.
CREB® HomeSmarts is working with REALTORS®, buyers, sellers, and partners to:
- bring sustainability to the real estate transaction
- reduce the impact of Calgary homes
- ease of marketing your homes green features
- ease of finding a home with green features
WHERE WE WERE…
CREB®’s Go Green Challenge began in June, 2010. It was a pilot program to get REALTORS®, consumers, and corporate partners working together to reduce the ecological impacts of Calgary homes. The program, under the guidance of a Task Force made up of volunteer REALTORS® and CREB® staff, sought assistance from multiple partners and sponsors to introduce Energuide ratings to the MLS® Listings, provide REALTOR® education, and establish a website which provides “green” information to both REALTORS® and the public.
In July 2011, the pilot phase of this program concluded and the next phase of the Go Green Program was discussed and evaluated. Both the Go Green task force and the board supported revising the program rather than retiring it or continuing it unchanged.
